Self-Reflection

Self-evaluation is a powerful tool that will help you become a better teacher. Reflecting on and evaluating how your lesson went (even briefly) is critical to learn from your past experience!

Consider the following questions

• What went well in this lesson? Why?
• What problems did I experience? Why?
• Was it "student centered"?
• What could I have done differently?
• What did I learn from this experience that will help me in the future?

E.g. Session went really well as my student was able to remember and apply what we learnt from the last lesson. She was eager to learn and asked a lot of good questions (i.e. why do I need to multiply X with Y?) I felt well prepared for the session since I knew exactly which topics she was struggling with so was able to collect a list of questions that we could review in class together. I thought we also spent a good amount of time discussing the foundations of the topic but for the next lesson, I want to encourage her to do some of the questions as homework so we can spend the tutorials going through the answers, which will be a more effective use of our time together.
